Privacy Policy

BISK is a small pottery painting studio in Durbanville, Cape Town, 7550, South Africa. The venue for a session is the one named on that session. This page is about the information you give us through this website.

What we collect

If you write via the contact form we store your name, email, phone number, and message. If you book a session we store the date, the people on the tickets, the pieces you chose, your name, email, phone, the price, and the payment reference PayFast sends us.

We do not have customer accounts. We do not store your full card number. Card payments are taken on PayFast’s secure page. We do not sell your information.

Why we keep it

To answer you, to set up a session, to take payment, and to keep a record of a booking or a refund. That is a legitimate interest in running the studio, and it is the information we need to perform a booking. We also use the Meta pixel described below to see whether an advert led someone to book. South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is the law we work under.

How long

Contact notes stay until we have dealt with them and no longer need the record. Paid booking and payment references stay as long as we need them for the studio, tax, or a dispute. We do not keep a public mailing list from these forms.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we do not still need it. Use the contact form and say so. If you are unhappy with how we handle this, you can also contact the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Hosting and payment

The site is hosted by our technical providers. They may process limited technical data (such as IP address and browser) to keep the site up. PayFast processes card payments as our payment operator. Customer details we keep are stored separately from card details entered on PayFast.

Advertising

We advertise BISK on Meta, which includes Facebook and Instagram. The public pages load Meta’s pixel so we can tell which ads lead to a visit, a workshop page, the start of payment, a paid booking, or a message from the contact form. We use that to measure the ads and to reach people who are more likely to book.

The pixel sets a cookie in your browser. If you open a link from an ad, it can also read the click id in that link. When you send the contact form, the pixel receives the name, email, and phone number from that form. When a booking is confirmed, it receives those same details, the workshop, and the amount paid. Meta hashes the contact details in the browser before storing them, and matches them to the ad click. We do not send your message, your card number, or the PayFast payment reference. The card page is on PayFast, and this pixel does not run there. It does not run in the studio admin.

Meta is a separate company. Its privacy policy is at facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can block cookies from Meta in your browser, or adjust ad preferences in your Meta account. You can also use the contact form to ask what we hold or to object to how we use it.
